Custom Built Professional Websites
In today's world, many people turn to the internet first when looking for a certain product or service. If you don't have a website, you're potentially missing out on business every day. Your website is a small investment that has the possibility of bringing you huge returns.
The Importance of CUSTOM Web Design
It's not enough just to have a website. It has to look professional. It has to be easy on the eyes. It has to create a positive feeling in it's user. When you're trying to convey a professional image to potential customers, the last thing you want to do is have a website that looks like it was built by an 8 year old using Front Page or the latest drag and drop 'build your own website' software package.
I am trained as a Graphic Designer. Years of schooling gave me a firm grasp on the principles of design. It's not just about pretty colors and drop shadows. Color theory, typography, alignment, proportion, white-space, rythhm... those are just a few things that have to be considered when designing for the web or print. I build websites that your users will find both useable and attractive.
Search Engine Placement
You can hire the latest, greatest SEO 'guru' that promises to get your site top Google rankings, but true SEO starts with the proper coding of your website. Semantic markup, proper image tags and titles, and standards compliant code are a MUST! If you don't know what any of that means that's OK... you're not neccessarily supposed to. That's what I'm for! I code my sites with compliant XHTML and CSS, NOT tables! This is not 1997.
Cross-Browser Support
Did you know that different web browsers render website's differently? Just because a site looks and acts a certain way in Firefox does not mean that it will look or act the same way in Internet Explorer or Safari or Opera. I wish it did... it would save me hours of headache and frustration.
My websites are coded so that they render properly in all major standards-compliant browsers (Firefox, Internet Explorer, Opera, Safari, etc.). Please understand, however, that users of Internet Explorer 6 or earlier may not get the same experience as they would with an up to date browser. I won't get in to the details of why this is, but I will say that I code my sites so that they degrade gracefully. This means that the site is accessible and useable even in browsers that are out of date, or have javascript or style sheets turned off. If you need to make sure that users of Internet Explorer 6 or another such browser have a higher quality of experience, I can accommodate that need by creating a seperate style sheet for those users.
